Hi, my name is Shona Cowart and I was born in Los Angeles, CA. I lived there for the first 26 years of my life and now live in Murfreesboro, Tennessee (outside of Nashville). Most of my influences come from the ethnic neighborhoods and 1940's & 50's architecture in L.A. When I moved to the south I became interested in folklore and cemetery art and symbolism. These interests have also turned up in my work.

My interest in letterpress occurred by accident. I had to take one more studio class for my art degree and was talked into signing up for letterpress (although what I really wanted to take was book arts, which came a semester later). I ended up falling in love with letterpress after the first pull and maxed out my college credits by taking the 2 year course.
